Breakthrough: JPG Magazine and SFAC

The San Francisco Art Commission (SFAC) and JPG Magazine have teamed up for a show called "Breakthrough: An Amateur Photography Revolution."

Every photo submitted to our Breakthrough theme will be displayed in the gallery in some fashion. Some will appear in a grid on the photo wall, some in a slideshow, and a select few will be printed and hung in the gallery. And you're invited to attend the opening! It'll take place at the gallery on April 20 at 6pm. We'll also be participating in a panel discussion on the "art and practice of photography in the brave new digital age" on May 31 at 6pm at the Koret Auditorium, San Francisco Public Library.

It was great to see my photo in the giant grid. On display from April 20 - May 31. Photos are from the opening.

Dawn of the MacPro Tower

My new tower came with a insanely loud whirring fan noise. After five phone calls to Apple, I convinced them that the sound was real and that it wasn't going away. The only thing I could do was keep putting it to sleep to shut the sound down, but on waking up, the sound would be back in a few minutes. The exact day I received the FedEx labels from Apple to send it back, the sound stopped. It's been quiet so far (knock on wood!). It's as if the poor thing knew it was about to be sent back to the lab to be dismantled and tested. I'm glad it decided to stay ;)

Wow. It's amazing to see Vox now after having worked on the early wireframes and UI with Winnie and Jamison at 6A a year ago! I'm off to explore and will be posting a new blog here in VoxWorld.
